A valve body brings together internal flow geometry and external interfaces that must fit the rest of the valve. Investment casting can offer a route to the body shape, while machining and testing establish additional requirements. The supply plan should keep those operations connected from the first drawing review.
A pump housing may be produced through different casting routes depending on its alloy, size and geometry. The best selection starts with the finished housing rather than the rough mold. Bearing locations, sealing interfaces and internal passages often determine which manufacturing proposal is practical.
Machining allowance is material intentionally left on a casting so cutting can establish the required finished surface. It is not a general cure for every dimensional variation. The allowance should be planned together with the locating scheme, machining sequence and condition of the casting supplied to the machine shop.
